Below you will find a list of some of our frequently asked questions. If you can’t find what you are looking for here, please send us a message with your questions regarding setup, configuration, purchasing, or troubleshooting any of our industrial sensors or accessories.
Almost certainly. Our sensors have response times in the hundreds of microseconds, ensuring they can keep pace with even the fastest production lines.
All of our sensors provide either discrete, analog outputs, or both. Discrete outputs are set to switch upon the sensor’s reaching a user set threshold. All of our analog outputs are 0 to 5V. Our sensors do not have a 4-20mA output.
Luminescence is the light given off by certain substances after absorbing other wavelengths of light. In the case of our luminescence sensors, it’s typically an additive that causes the target material to glow when exposed to UV light, allowing our luminescence sensors to detect its presence.
Most of our sensors are not calibrated. However, the sensor readings are all relative and measured against a base reading that you “teach” the sensor. Many of our sensors have flexible settings that allow you to nudge their readings closer to other sensors.
Some of our sensors do offer a “calibration” option (e.g. UVX-300G-C), but this is actually just a very fine gain adjustment, which can be used to make multiple sensors read very similarly to each other. These sensors are still not calibrated sensors, and all readings are still relative.
Most of our sensors are not calibrated. Their readings are all relative. You can get close approximations by measuring calibrated samples with our sensor and correlating the measured values. We do not provide calibrated samples. We cannot make suggestions on where to buy calibrated samples.
Most of our sensors have built-in ambient light subtraction and will be unaffected by nearby light sources unless the light is intense enough to oversaturate the photosensor. The UVX-300-P, and LEX series will be affected by nearby light.
Most of our sensors are configured using pushbuttons located directly on the sensor and feedback is provided through a 2-digit display or tri-color LED. Our Colormax series of sensors uses a Windows computer application and a USB cable to change the parameters of the sensor. The Colormax application is not compatible with Mac computers.
